Week of exploring Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is a beautiful island that falls under Spain. We lived in the Taurito area, where we were very satisfied. The beach was without people because there were no tourists because of covid 19. Big red crabs live there. The capital of Gran Canaria is Las Palmas. I was most impressed by the changes in the landscape, because on one side of the island there are sand dunes and on the other beautiful mountains with a huge and magnificent view of the whole island. A nice tourist attraction is the port of Puerto de Mogán, which is called the Spanish Venice on the island. There are salt water channels. There is also a Czech restaurant on Amadores Beach on the island, where the popular Pilsen beer is sold. I liked the Spanish potatoes, which are eaten with peel, the most on the island.
There are problems with refugees from Africa on the island, to whom the Spanish government gives 2 euros a day. There are a lot of refugees on the island and their relations with the locals hang in the balance. I really liked the New Year's Eve celebration, because we had beautifully set tables and chocolate fountains. It was the best New Year's Eve I've ever had. In Spain, it is customary to eat grapes at New Year's Eve celebrations. I liked all their habits, and also the fact that they are positive and enjoy life much more than we Czechs. Gran Canaria is a beautiful island and for me the best and most beautiful of all the Canary Islands.
