Trip to Villach, the city of Japanese macaques
Villach is the seventh largest city in Austria. There are 61,000 inhabitants and one of the most famous is Martin Koch, a former Austrian ski jumper. About 10 kilometers from Villach are the Slovenian and Italian borders and around the city there are many lakes. At one of them is Monkey Mountain, which we visited.
The macaques got to Monkey Mountain by fleeing from another ZOO and settling there. It is good to hide all the headgear before entering, as the macaques are very cunning and touch and take everything. For example, a lady with a pram approached a monkey and a monkey, who is a fresh mother, took her things from the pram. A total of 150 macaques live there. They live on Lake Ossiach. I really liked the trip to Villach, it is a town with beautiful nature.
