Porto, the city of jams and port wine
05/11/2019
Porto is a really special city. You either go uphill or downhill. It is the second largest city in Portugal and has a population of about 210,000. I liked the monument Luis I Bridge the most, which is an iconic iron bridge. It was built according to the design of the Eiffel Tower builder Gustave Eiffel and connects the modern part of the city with the old wine cellars where port wine is made. Next to the bridge, a cable car goes to the castle, which we took off.
There is also a library in Porto with stairs on which British writer J. K. Rowling began thinking about Harry Potter. There is also a beautiful train station, which I really liked because it was covered with blue tiles. We also looked at the most famous cafe in all of Portugal, called Majestic Café. It is said to be one of the six most beautiful cafes in the world. There are long queues for sitting, but we did not wait and let us in after two minutes.
Not only blue tiles are known in Porto, but also jam. We bought different flavors. In Porto, I also started eating roasted chestnuts, which are perfect and can also be bought in the Czech Republic. We also visited the stadium of FC Porto, which regularly plays the most famous football competition Champions league. We also took the bus to the most famous beach near Porto, where I saw surfers. I've seen the most of them in my life so far. There were really big waves. I liked Porto, but I liked Lisbon a little more.
